Mooncalf studied cartooning at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Working primarily in rapidograph and Milky gel roller, Mooncalf developed a unique, bold style of illustration that led to the development of excessively powerful finger muscles. Mooncalf recently relocated from Berkeley, CA and moved to stuffier Cambridge, MA If you are now questioning Mooncalf's judgment, I don't blame you. Mooncalf created "Jeffrey Martian" in 1989, at which point the strip was published in The Tufts Daily. Mooncalf then undertook a grueling ten-year sabbatical, toiling endlessly to become an honest observer of humanity. Mooncalf revived the strip in January 1999 and it enjoyed a year-and-a-half-long run in The Daily Californian. As editors played a perpetual game of musical chairs, "Jeffrey Martian" moved exclusively into online availability. Mooncalf is a member of The Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. |
